Donna Lee Smith

Donna Smith, 77, went to be with the Lord January 16, 2018 at Diversicare Healthcare Center in Larned, KS. Donna was born September 19, 1940 at Larned, KS. She was the fourth of five children born to Bertha Burns and Milton Smith. Donna came from humble beginnings, in addition to being handicaped. The family moved to Kinsley in 1948 where Donna attended Lincoln Elementary School. As a teenager she sustained an injury that required her to use a walker. In spite of her handicaps she was able to live independently in an apartment at Greensburg with the loving aid of Arrowhead West. She later moved to Kinsley into the Oak Manor Apartments. After a serious illness she needed more care. She received loving care at Kinsley and Protection before becoming a resident at Larned Healthcare in 2009 until her death. Donna enjoyed attending the Burns Family Reunion, her doll collection, cherry chocolates, coffee, ice cream sandwiches and an occasional cigarette. She was always happy to have visitors and interested in family. Donna was a person of courage. There were many things that she couldn't do but this didn't stop her from doing what she could. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Melba, brothers Leonard, George and Ronald. She is survived by several cousins.
