Frank M. Castaneda, 85, of Lewis died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in the Harry Hynes Hospice at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, KS.  Mr. Castaneda was born In Lewis, Kansas December 3, 1930, the son of Jose and Manuela Munoz Castaneda.  He attended Lewis Public Schools and later married Angelina Espinosa on September 23, 1947 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
 
Family and work defined Frank’s life.  Early after their marriage he worked for Jim Carroll, relocating houses and later he followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and then invested 35 years at Cross Manufacturing.  He and his wife Angelina owned and operated the Golden Manor Restaurant in Lewis for 15 years; many people still today request recipes from the family’s restaurant, especially the pancakes, enchiladas and the fried chicken.  He also owned Lewis Machine Shop and Welding.  Frank was a dedicated and hard-working man with a passion for helping others.  He was compelled to contribute and assist others.  He helped the local Community by providing services to area  Cemeteries and he worked with local farmers in and around Edwards County throughout his lifetime.  He was known to be firm and fair.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one daughter.  He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Angelina of 68 years; son, Steve (Karry)-Wichita, KS, daughter, Mary MacNevin-Olathe, KS, son, Philip (Julie)-Topeka, KS, daughter, Theresa Booth-Temple, TX, daughter, Frances (Gary) Jarvis-Kinsley, KS, daughter, Michelle Fettig and her fiancé Bill DiGaetano-Temple, TX, daughter, Cruz (Chris) Salyer-Olathe, KS, daughter, Marcie (Chris) Stewart-Arlington, TX, son, Marcus (Cyndy)-Lewis, KS, son, Lorenzo (Kassie)-Olathe, KS, daughter, Patricia (Andy) McGuire-Tulsa, OK and 110 dearly loved grand and great grandchildren.  Brothers, Pete Castaneda Sr. and Nick Castaneda of Lewis, KS, Sisters, Connie Burke and Esther Mueller, both of Dodge City, KS., and numerous nieces and nephews.
