Elmer Leroy Sparke, 95, died April 26, 2024 at Ft Dodge Soldiers Home, Ft Dodge, Ks. He was born April 18, 1929 in Manitou, Co to Elmer Ray and Ada May (Zion) Sparke. He grew up on a farm south of Fellsburg, Ks and graduated from Kinsley High School. He attended Dodge City Community College for one year on a track scholarship and enlisted in the Army Airborne during the Korean Conflict.
He was passionate about all things farming but it was not his vocation. He married Ethel L. Busby in Raton, New Mexico on May 5, 1955 enjoying many years together until her death in 2021.
Survivors include four sons, Steven (Shirley), Scott (Kyle), Brian (Lisa), Doug (Tana Beckman), and two daughters Shelly (Richard) Kelsey and Peggy Steimel, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation is Monday, April 29, 2024 from 10am to 7pm at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, Ks. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Tuesday, April 30 2024 at the Kinsley United Methodist Church with burial following at Hillside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kansas Soldiers Home or Kinsley United Methodist Church in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, Ks.
