Farold L. Fox, 95, died August 24, 2018 at Edwards County Medical Center, Kinsley, KS. He was born April 26, 1923 in Newton, KS. He was the son of George and Emma (Nitschke) Fox. He married Vera Chapin January 20, 1944 at the Lewis Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home. Daughters, Terri Wiley (Chuck) of Elizabeth, CO, Lenice Divis (Lyle), Lewis and Cindy Stiebe (David), Kinsley. He had 6 grandchildren, Chad Wiley, North Hollywood, CA. Robin Wiley, Aurora, CO. Scott Divis, Lewis. Jill (Divis) Shephard, Lawrence, KS. Alexis Stiebe, Hutchinson, KS and Kristin (Stiebe) McClaren, Lewis. He also had 10 great-grandchildren. Orion Wiley, Kiara Thiel, Porter Thiel, Falyn Spangler, Zeke Spangler, Jacey Divis, Tucker Divis, Jenna Divis, Mila Morrison and Brynlee Shephard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Shirlet Edwards and Helen Schaller and a brother E.T. Fox.
Farold served in the Army Air Force for 3 ½ years during World War II as an airplane mechanic. After his discharge he learned to fly on the GI Bill. He got his commercial license and was a spray pilot for several years while also farming near Lewis. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He built and flew 5 experimental airplanes. He had a lifelong love of flying.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 Monday, August 27, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kinsley, KS with Rev. Stanley Palmer presiding. Burial will be at Wayne Cemetery, Lewis. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kinsley or Edwards County Hospital Auxiliary in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS.
