Evelyn Caroline (Proberts) Crockett, 89, passed away on June 8, 2021, at Medicalodge in Kinsley, KS. Born in Edwards County on February 26, 1932, she was the daughter of Earl and Mable (Krupp) Proberts. She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1951 and married Edgar E. Crockett on June 2 that same year, in Kinsley. Evelyn was a loving mother, farm wife, homemaker, grandmother, and great grandmother. An active member of the Offerle United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and was a steward of the church decorations and candles for many years. She was a 4-H club leader and always enjoyed taking her photography and homegrown produce to the county fair. She was a Farm Bureau board member, active in the Edwards County Extension Unit for many years, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Over the years, Evelyn enjoyed riding along with Edgar as he delivered Moorman’s Feed, working in her garden and planting flowers. She always maintained pride in the Carnival history of Kinsley and was involved in the community by writing her weekly Offerle News column.
Survivors include her son, David (Belinda) Crockett of Valley Center, KS, daughter, Debbie (Harlan)
Nuss of Beeler, KS, daughter-in-law, Lisa Wolfe of Kinsley, her brother, Rolland and wife Wilma Proberts of Kinsley, and in-laws Floyd and Janet Crockett of Lewis, KS. “Grammie”, as she was known, had six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar, daughter Dinah, son Dale, and her brother Edwin Proberts.
Funeral Service will be Friday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. at the Offerle United Methodist Church with Dr. Galen Boehme officiating. Interment following at the Brown’s Grove Cemetery in Burdett, KS. Visitation is on Thursday, June 10th from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. at McKillip’s Funeral Home in Kinsley. Memorials are to Offerle United Methodist Church, Offerle, KS
