Loretta Gleason Obituary

Loretta “Lucille” Gleason, 92, died May 27, 2020, in Wichita, KS. She was born on February 23, 1928, in Kinsley, KS, to Ferdinand and Mary (Schmitt) Hattrup.

On November 8, 1949, she married Maurice F. Gleason. Together, they owned and operated the Gleason Tax Service in Kinsley until Maurice’s death on April 9, 2006.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, and the church choir. Lucille is survived by her four children: Mark (Debra) Gleason, Wichita, KS, Gerald (Karen) Gleason, Fulshear, TX, Kevin (Karen) Gleason, Shawnee, KS, LeAnne (Mike) Hampel, Garden City, KS; nine grandchildren: Amanda Gleason Murnan, Sara Loewenstein, Suzy Gleason, Kristen Heldenbrand, Eric Gleason, Audrey Gleason, Adam Gleason, Brian Hampel, Kyle Hampel; six great-grandchildren: Reid & Owen Murnan, Katie & Bobby Loewenstein, Jensen & Grayson Heldenbrand.

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Urban Havas, and her two brothers, Eugene and Dennis Hattrup.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who cherished her family and friends and will be missed by all.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11:30 A.M. in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Kinsley, KS. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 7 p.m. at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas Building Fund in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home.
