Roland E. Sawyer passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2022. He was born February 15, 1972 in Kinsley, KS. He was the son of Leroy and Carolyn Sawyer. Roland enjoyed fishing, hunting, hanging out at the lake camping and spending his time outside.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dutch and Ruby Sawyer and Joe and Kathrine Felder.
Roland joined the police force in 1996 working in Great Bend, KS as a police officer. In 1999 Roland completed the KLETC in Hutchinson, KS. As a lifelong fighter of Polycystic Kidney Disease all beginning when he just was 18 years old, Roland received a kidney transplant in 2009 and fought a long and difficult battle with family and friends by his side.
Roland is survived by his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Sawyer of Lewis, KS, his brother, Ronald of Lewis, Mother and Father in Law, Dan and Joyce Wapelhorst Great Bend, KS, his daughter, Kaileigh (Corey) Stebens of Ashland, KS, Ex-wife Nancy and two daughters, Sydni (Skyler) and Madi (Jacob) of Great Bend, KS, his Wife, Charlene Sawyer and step-daughter Brooke Goodman both of Hays, KS. Grandchildren: Everleigh Stebens, Creed Stebens, Liam Zamarripa, and soon to be expecting twins.
A celebration of life will be held at Wayne Cemetery in Lewis, KS on October 8, 2022 at 10am.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home in Kinsley, KS.
