Marvin Arensman, 83 died March 24, 2017, in the HaysMed hospital. He was born July 20, 1934 in Kinsley, KS on his family’s farm. Marvin was the son of Henry and Elsie (Lippoldt) Arensman. Marvin has one brother, Elton Arensman (Boise, ID) who survives and one sister, Elnora Curtright, who preceded Marvin in death.

Marvin married Peggy (Ary) on August 15, 1955 in Raton, NM. Peggy survives along with four daughters: Jerri Stegman (Rean) of Offerle, KS; Sandi Arensman-Granado (Trinidad) of Dallas, TX; Randi Arensman of Topeka, KS; and Jodi Conrardy (Aaron) of Dodge City, KS. Marvin has five grandchildren: Andrea Zapata, Colby Stegman, Melissa Stein, Sarah Cooper, Kassi Conrardy, and five great-grandchildren: Marcelo Zapata, Marcus Zapata, Avonlea Stein, Grayson Stegman, and Langston Stegman.

Marvin was a lifelong farmer and rancher, farming the same land as his father, grandfather, and uncles. Marvin always remarked that he raised crops only because he needed to feed his cattle. Marvin was active in 4-H, FFA, the Kinsley Co-op Board, and the Farm Bureau Board. He was honored to receive an Edwards County Soil Conservation Award, as well as being featured on the cover of the High Plains Journal. Marvin loved attending auctions to find a great bargain. He could watch any Western movie especially one featuring John Wayne. Marvin looked forward every year to the Dodge City Days so that he could attend the rodeo.

Friends and family are invited to share in a celebration of Marvin’s life. Visitation will be on Monday, March 27 at McKillip Funeral Home in Kinsley, KS. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Kinsley, KS on Tuesday, March 28 at 2:00 P.M. The graveside services will follow at Salem Cemetery in rural Kinsley.
