Sylvia Jane Wolfe, age 86, died April 14, 2017 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Sylvia was born to Frank Benjamin and Edna D. (Morris) Cecil on the farm in Sherman County Kansas, near St. Francis, Kansas on January 28, `1931.

The family moved to Cope, Colorado where Sylvia spent her childhood. She attended a one room school and told of riding to school on their pony, Prince, who more than once dumped them and left them to walk home.

Sylvia moved to Elizabeth, Colorado to live with a family as a mothers helper during her high school years. It was during this time she met her future husband Robert A. 'Bob' Wolfe,. . Sylvia graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1949 and attended Rockmont Bible college for one term. On October 1, 1950, she married , Bob. Their first home was a small apartment in Elizabeth. Later they moved to the Olinger Place south of Elizabeth. Through the years they lived in Elbert, Kiowa, Elizabeth Colorado. In 1972, they moved to Lewis, Kansas, which was their final home.. To this union were born ten children and they adopted one more for good measure.

Sylvia was first and foremost a mother and homemaker. She loved to sew and design clothes and often made matching outfits for the children when they were young. As a cook, she was the greatest! She could make the best meal out of some of the simplest things. Her homemade bread was hard to beat. We always liked “fried toads”, snips of bread dough deep fried. Soooo good! Sylvia enjoyed working in the yard. During the summer she was always busy planting flowers and landscaping the yard. In 1967 she returned to college and attended Metro State College in Denver with the goal of earning a teaching degree. She also worked outside the home at Denver Tent, Silver State Nursing Home, Castle Rock, Colorado, and as an aide at Larned State Hospital.

Sylvia is survived by her children: Cynthya and Larry Billinger, Rob and Brenda Wolfe, Karon and Dude Garrett, Mary Joan and Gene Johnson, Randy and Carrie Wolfe, Reed, Ryan and Regan Wolfe of the home, Lynne and Wendell Hutchison, Ross and Lisa Wolfe, Misty and Steve LaChance. Three sisters: Margie Hall, Darlene Cecil-Landrum, Audrey Mauro. Thirty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, other extended family and many friends.

Sylvia is preceeded in death by her mother and father, husband, Bob of 53 years, seven brothers, two sisters, Grand daughter, Roberta 'Bobbie' Coupland, Great Grandchildren James William Garrett and Clara Joy Torpey.
