David Gordon Titus, born on November 30, 1949, in the loving embrace of his parents William and Louis Titus, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His life was a testament to duty, service, and a deep commitment to his family and country.
A decorated veteran, David bravely served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military career was marked by remarkable achievements, including his involvement in the Camp David Summit Meetings and serving as a political affairs officer in Centcom at MacDill Air Force Base, where he was responsible for the Press Pool. His dedication to service exemplified his character and commitment to the values he held dear.
David was not only a stalwart in his professional life but also cherished his time spent with family. He was a devoted father to Jeremy and Justin Titus and a proud grandfather to Alex, Bentley, Dylan, Logan, and Mina Titus. The love he shared with his children and grandchildren was profound, serving as a foundation for bonds that will continue to flourish in their hearts.
In addition to his illustrious military career and beloved family, David found joy in fishing, a hobby that offered him moments of tranquility and reflection amidst his bustling life.
He is survived by his sons and grandchildren, who will carry forward the memories and legacy of a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sandra Barnes.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on January 12, 2026, at Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley Township, Kansas. The service will commence at 2:00 PM, visitation will be January 12, 2026, 10 a.m. until noon at McKillip Funeral Home, Kinsley.
David Gordon Titus will be remembered as a loving father, a devoted grandfather, a respected military officer, and a friend to many. His legacy of integrity, service, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
