Dennis John Hattrup

Dennis John Hattrup died July 26, 2016 in Kinsley, KS.  He was born August 20, 1923 to Ferdinand and Mary (Schmitt Hattrup) Havas. He married Ruth Durler on November 25, 1947 in Spearville.  He was a life long farmer, dairyman and custom cutter.  He was a member of St. Nicholas Church and Knights of Columbus Council 2131, where he served as Grand Knight and District Deputy Knight.  He also served as a 4-H leader and as a member of the Logan Township Board.

Dennis is survived by his wife and children: Charles (Mary) Hattrup, Manhattan; Pat (Wayne) Menthen, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Rita Faires (Wichita); Bev (Hattrup) Jensen; Duane (Kit) Hattrup (Westminister, CO); Denise (Melvin) Priest, Kinsley; Darlene Judy, Kinsley; Dan Hattrup , Kinsley; Judy (Phillip) Gleason, Spearville; Joann (Greg) Stephens, Ashburn, VA; Tammy (Darcy) White, Wichita; Deanna  (Bill) Abildgaard, Wichita; Michelle (Paul) Blodgett, Kearney, MO; 22 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; and sister Lucille Gleason, Kinsley. He is preceded in death by his son Larry Hattrup, parents, stepfather Urban Havas and brother Eugene Hattrup.

Vigil will be held on Friday, July 29th at 7:00 pm at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Funeral service will be on Saturday, July 30th   10:30 am.  Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery Assoc. or St. Nicholas Building Fund, in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
