Elvira Catherine LorenzenOctober 18, 1941 – April 16, 2026
Elvira C. Lorenzen, age 84, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on April 16, 2026. She was born on October 18, 1941, in Spearville, Kansas, to Henry and Bernadine Grasser. She graduated from Spearville High School in 1959.
Elvira met her husband, Larry Lee Lorenzen, at a wedding dance. Sharing a love of dancing, they married in 1961 and were together for 39 years until his passing in January 2000. They had two children: Mike Lorenzen (Karla) of Colleyville, Texas, and Marti Hinkle (Brad) of Olathe, Kansas. She is also survived by five granddaughters: Mikayla, Kaylie, Aubri, Loren, and Briana.
Elvira built a long career as a Regional Supervisor in the grocery industry and retired from Dillons in 1999. Following her husband’s passing, she relocated to the Kansas City area, where she spent much of her retirement, later moving to Hurst, Texas.
A 27-year breast cancer survivor, Elvira was a dedicated supporter of breast cancer research and veterans’ causes. She was known for her vibrant personality, sense of humor, and creativity, particularly her enthusiasm for Halloween and making personalized cards for family and friends.
Elvira is survived by her sister Louise Lampe; brother Gerald Grasser; her children and their families; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; sister Marge Ruder and husband; brother Leo Grasser and wife; brother-in-law, Dwaine Lampe.
A graveside service will be held on June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley, Kansas, followed by a Celebration of Life and luncheon at the Edwards County Fairgrounds Building.
