Catherine Hattrup Obituary

Catherine Aileen Hattrup, 94, died January 31 in Kinsley, KS. She was born on October 25, 1925, to James D. and Helen (Quealy) Gleason. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Catherine touched the lives of all who knew her. She studied at St. Mary of the Plains and Newman College and pursued a career in education, starting with an opportunity to teach in a one-room schoolhouse in Hodgeman County. She taught in Spearville, Kinsley and Offerle, KS, impacting the lives of students of all ages. At the end of her career, Catherine served as a school library assistant.

Catherine enjoyed giving back to her community. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society and served as a school board member for Kinsley-Offerle USD 347.  Catherine's interests included a love of horses from an early age, dancing with the love of her life - her husband, Gene, playing cards with friends, watching all of her favorite Kansas sports teams and spending time with family.

Catherine is survived by her children: Kathy Gaither (Grapevine, TX), Steve (Cindy) Hattrup (Kailua, HI), Mary Hill (Nickerson), Renee (Scott) Miller (Overland Park), Jan (Jeff) Kuckelman (Lewis); 10 Grandchildren: Chris Gaither, Jennifer Gaither, Megan Nielsen, Kaley Hattrup, Erica Haskins, Kassy Miller, Becky Miller, Jarrod Kuckelman, Elena Kuckelman, Ryan Kuckelman: 5 Great-grandchildren: Matthew Gaither, Nicole Gaither, and Lauren Gaither, Brooke Nielsen, and Addison Haskins.  Sister:  Theresa Aistrup.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, brothers Thomas, James, Maurice and Marvin, and sister Alice Marie, and Sons-In-Law, Bill Gaither and Ron Hill.
