Obituary

David Earl McClaren, age 85, passed away at home March 27th, 2023 on the family farm, Lewis, Kansas. 

David was born on his family’s homesteaded farm near Lewis, Kansas on June 24, 1937.  The son of James Leroy and Frances Lucille Vanderree McClaren.  David was a lifetime Lewis resident.  He graduated with the Class of 1956 from Lewis High School.  He was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.  He spent his life farming, ranching and working with other agricultural enterprises.  He served on various boards and volunteered with family and Kingdom Hall projects all over multiple states.  He enjoyed traveling and was proud he had visited all fifty of the US States.  David liked to take annual trips to the mountains both in the summer for fishing, trail riding and winter for skiing. 

David and Betty Lou Moore were married Nov. 22, 1975.  He is survived by Betty, a son James McClaren (Tammy) Lewis KS, Daughter Gina Mundhenke (John) Lewis KS.  Stepchildren Dean Haynes (Dawn) Kinsley KS, Danny Haynes (Debbie) Kinsley KS, Tammy West (Andy) Dodge City KS.  Grandchildren:  Kasey Wilkinson (Drew) Manhattan, KS, Ashley Mead (Brody) Lees Summit, MO, Cole McClaren (Kristin) Lewis, KS, and their son Rhett.  Six Step grandchildren, and nine Step great grandchildren. Sisters Thelma Young of West Virginia, Carolyn Roberts (Jack) Kinsley, KS, Barbara Judy Wheaton Lewis, KS, brother Bruce McClaren (Norma) Fowler, KS.  Many generations of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jay McClaren, Willis McClaren, two infant brothers, sister Eileen McClaren and grandson Tanner Schinstock. 

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 1, 2023, McKillip Funeral Home Kinsley, KS.  Visitation Friday until 7:00 and Saturday prior to service.
