Henry Nick Castaneda of Lewis, Kansas died Saturday, November 28, 2020, in Pratt Medical Center. Nick was born in Lewis on February 27, 1937, the son of Jose and Manuela Munoz Castaneda. He attended Lewis Public School and graduated in 1956.
Him and his sweetheart Rosalie Chacon were married On August 1, 1955 in the Courthouse, then they married in the Catholic Church on October 12, 1957 in Newton, Kansas.
Nick was the owner of the Lewis Recreation for over 20 years, he was known for the Nick Burger and Friday Night Taco's. In his earlier years he had become interested in the bar business working for Jack Ray. He retired from Cross Manufacturing after 37 years of service in 2001.
He was on an undefeated football team in Lewis and went on to play at Bethel College for one more year. His brother's and him were kind of in the construction business, working on extra rooms, patios, roofing homes, mostly for there own and friends. He has always been interested in the community and was a Boy Scout Leader for 8 years. After retirement he spent his time in lawncare.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He will be missed by his wife Rosalie of 65 years. He is survived by two sons; Joe and Debbie Castaneda of Kinsley, David and Tammy Castaneda of Lewis, and two daughters; Becky and (John Poe) Castaneda of Lewis, Bobbie and Chad Nystrom of Lewis, seven grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
