Irene Emilie (Fischer) Woolard

Irene Emilie (Fischer) Woolard, 94, passed away on August 13, 2022, at Medicalodge in Kinsley, Kansas.  She was born August 9, 1928, to Arthur and Emilie (Aleck) Fischer at their home in Hudson, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Ralph Clarence Woolard on October 12, 1947, at Peace Church in Hudson, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 1980.  Following Ralph’s death, she moved to Kinsley, Kansas in 1992 and enjoyed doing some traveling abroad with a cousin.

Irene was very active in her communities. She was a member of the Lewis United Methodist Church where she served as church secretary for 45 years, was a member of the Rebecca Circle, Lewis United Methodist Women serving as chairperson and secretary, Edwards County Hospital Auxiliary secretary/treasurer, chairperson at the Kinsley Library for 10 years.

Irene enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, riding her bike, watching Jeopardy and family gathering for holidays and her birthday.

Irene is survived by a son, Dan (Bev) Woolard, Kinsley, KS; daughters, Linda (Mike) Schnoebelen, Lewis, KS; Lorra (John) Jagow, Warsaw, MO; 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on August 20, 2022, at the Lewis United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewis United Methodist Church, Kinsley Library, Edwards County Hospital Auxiliary or Hospice of the Prairie, Dodge City
