Jonathan "Levi" Burkhart

Jonathan "Levi" Burkhart, age 37, passed away, unexpectedly at his home, in Oklahoma City on January 27, 2022. He was born October 25, 1984. He attended Kinsley schools, graduating from Kinsley High School in 2003.

Levi enlisted in the Air Force Delayed Entry Program during his Senior year, and entered basic training after graduating. He was determined to fight and defend his country, after the 9/11 attacks. Throughout his military career he served as a SSGT in Security Forces. He was stationed, first, at Francis E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY, transferred to Bellows AFB in Oahu, HI, and later to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK. He served four tours overseas, with the first being in Kyrgyzstan, 2 tours in Iraq, and the final tour in Afghanistan, where he was injured, and later medically retired, in 2014. He was a proud airman, serving his country with integrity and honor, and was rewarded many commendation medals, for his years of accomplishments and service.

Levi's infectious sense of humor brought joy to all those around him. He could often be heard impersonating "Ace Ventura", or "Arnold Schwarzenegger", and he did it with perfection. He was a "die hard" Packers fan, and was even married at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. During his spare time he loved to fish, or go sing karaoke with his brother Sage. Their favorite "must sing tune" was "Neon Moon" by Brooks and Dunn. If Sage wasn't available, Levi didn't care, he sang solo, and if he couldn't make it to a karaoke club, he could always be found with his headphones on, singing along with his favorite music. Levi loved his family. He was generous to a fault, and a loyal friend to many. He struggled with pain for many years, but always managed to have a smile on his face. That is how he will be remembered.

Those left behind to mourn his loss include 1 son, Colten James, Stillwater, OK, mother, Sherry Burkhart, Hutchinson, KS, his father, Lindell Woodle, of Dunlap, IA., 2 sisters, Shasta Bishop and Amy (McKee) Byard, both of Hutchinson, KS, 2 brothers, Sage McKee, Hutchinson, KS, and Cody Bishop, Wichita, KS., grandfather, Harold Burkhart, Kinsley, KS, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, both in and out of the Armed Forces.

Cremation has taken place, and funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 1:00pm, at McKillip Memorial Funeral Chapel, 623 Marsh Ave., Kinsley, KS 67547.

The family suggests memorials be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project or your local chapter of The Patriot Guard Riders, in Levi's name.
