Vada Frick Obituary

Vada Vae Frick was born July 19, 1926, on the family farm south of Kinsley, Kansas.  She was the fourth child born to Charles Van and Orpha Brown Smith.  She passed away at Medicalodge of Kinsley on May 10, 2020.

Vada attended a country school south of Kinsley.  She fed and watered livestock before catching the school bus to Kinsley High School, where she graduated in 1944.

She married Lester P. Frick on December 20, 1946, in Kinsley.  They were three weeks short of their 70th wedding anniversary in 2016 when Lester passed away.  To this union were born two sons, Phillip Charles and Aaron Conrad Frick.

Vada worked many jobs in her life to help support the family.  Her first job was telephone operator in Kinsley.  She was also clerk at two grocery stores and the dime store before being elected Register of Deeds for two terms, retiring in 1977.

She and Lester moved to town in 2005 when they retired.  Vada enjoyed bowling and her team won several tournaments.  They spent many winters in south Texas where they had many friends.  Her favorite pastime was baking cookies, pies, and cakes.  She was an excellent cook.

Vada was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester, and son Aaron, two brothers Leslie H. Smith and wife Clarice, Charles M. (Jack) Smith and wife Juanita, three sisters Gladys Carrol and husband Jim, Clorine Taylor and husband Bill, and infant sister Rosie, several nieces and nephews.  She is survived by son Phillip and wife Cathy of Bonham, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes she has been cremated and a graveside service will be held later.  She will be buried in Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley with her husband Lester.

Memorials may be given to Medicalodge of Kinsley or the Donor's Choice in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
