Verle E. Lorenzen, 79, was born on February 11, 1944, in Great Bend, Ks to Paul and Emma (Sewing) Lorenzen. He passed from this life on September 25, 2023, in Wichita, Ks.
He was raised on the family farm south of Kinsley, Ks. He and his parents moved into Kinsley when he was 16. He graduated from Kinsley High School in 1962 and started to work at that time for Strate Construction, Inc. He managed Kinsley Ready Mix for over 50 years. On February 20, 1965, he was united in marriage to Linda Nall. To this union were born two children, Troy and Mindy.
Verle was a kind and loving husband and father. He was a man of many talents. He could fix most anything and if it couldn’t be fixed, he could build you a new one. He served two terms on the Kinsley City Council and was mayor during that time. Verle served as a member of the Kinsley Fire Department for many years and was also a member of the Kinsley Pride Committee. He served his community in many different capacities and offered his knowledge and skills to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda and his children, Troy Lorenzen and his wife, Susan, of Kearney, NE; his daughter, Mindy (Lorenzen) Minter and husband, Mitch of Rockwall, TX; four grandchildren, Morgan (Lorenzen) Potts and husband Kyle, Cole Lorenzen and his wife, Jenna and Macy and Max Minter. He is also survived by his two great grandchildren, Carson Potts and Drake Lorenzen, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Dale, Dean, Jack, and Larry and his sister, Rosalie.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1 pm at Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley, KS. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Edwards County Senior Center in care of McKillip Funeral Home and Mortuary, 623 Marsh Ave, Kinsley, KS 67547.
