William Joseph Ramsay

William Joseph Ramsay, 88, of Kinsley, passed away peacefully at his home on July 25, 2022.

Bill was born in Zenith, KS on March 18, 1934 to William Harold & Venita Virginia (Volker) Ramsay.  He graduated from Stafford High School and received a business degree from Kansas State Teachers College.  He was married to JoAnna (Dixon) Ramsay.

Bill was a lifelong sports fan, both as a spectator and participant. He won 3 national titles in leading his Hutchinson Junior College Track & Field squad to the 1954 National Team Title. His Stafford High School track and field teams also won back-to-back state titles in 1951 & 1952. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and his community in Kinsley’s Lions and Rotary Clubs. He was a youth coaching fixture and was President of Kinsley High School’s Booster Club in 1987-1988. Bill owned and operated Kinsley Automotive from 1972 thru 1994.

He is survived by two children Debra Lesperance and Lance Ramsay, 3 Stepchildren James Diel, William Diehl and Greg Diehl, 10 grandchildren Brett, Bree, Bridget, Sara, Taylor, Mallory, Brenan, Braeden, Myhia and Jammie and 14 great grandchildren and his former spouse and friend Judi Branine.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Rodney, three sons Douglas William, Brian Wayne, Kevin Grant, great grandson Jacob William and his wife Jo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July, 28th at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home in Kinsley, followed by a graveside service at Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, KS.
